He did it!
I never thought this would happen in my lifetime, but I’m so glad it did. A black man has clinched the Democratic Party nomination for President of the United States. I’m not sure exactly how to express what that means to me. I wish my mother were alive to witness this, she would be beside herself with joy. And the thing is, Barack Obama isn’t just any man. He’s brilliant, inspirational and I think he can help to lift the country from the depths of insecurity and disaster we are currently facing. He also won the race against a woman. While I’m not a huge Hillary Clinton fan, the fact that this unlikely race even occurred is an unprecedented historical event and I feel so lucky to be a part of that. We are currently under the reign of a man who says things like, "They misunderestimated me", "There's an old saying in Tennessee, I know it's Texas, probably in Tennessee that says, fool me once, shame on.. shame on you.  Fool me.. you can't get fooled again,” These are actual quotes from the genius that is George W. Bush. Fortunately any candidate would be a welcome reprise. But I am wishing and praying (something I don’t normally do), that the President of this country turns out to be the honorable and rather handsome Senator Obama. In other lighter and breezier news, I’m headed to a party in Brooklyn this weekend and I am planning on kissing a few boys, so I’ll update you all early next week. Xoxo,Sophia
